Bees in Spring
Posted by Janice ShannonWe celebrated Earth Day by meeting a REAL beekeeper. He has hundreds of bees and makes honey and candles. We learned that most bees do not like to sting you. Bees are important to our environment because it helps flowers bloom and vegetables grow. Sometimes you need to go near the bees to do things in the hive. The bee man wears a special hat and clothes so the bees cannot sting him. We all took turns trying it on.
Everyone made a bee out of a paper cup and we slid them into a nest that we made on our spring wall. Eating Cheetos out of a small brown bag got really messy when we were told not to lick our fingers so we can experience having “pollen” on our fingertips. Good thing we had lots of Cheetos to satisfy that hunger after a fun filled Earth Day!
