Who may apply for financial assistance?

Need-based financial assistance is available to eligible new and returning families with children entering Kindergarten through Grade 8.

Families across a range of income levels may qualify. We encourage families not to assume that their income alone makes them ineligible, as each application is evaluated based on the family’s complete financial circumstances.

Is financial assistance available for PreK?

At this time, Unquowa’s need-based financial assistance program is available to students entering Kindergarten through Grade 8. Financial assistance is not currently available for PreK.

Is there an income limit for receiving financial assistance?

There is no single income level that automatically determines whether a family will qualify. A family’s eligibility may be influenced by income, assets, family size, debt, childcare expenses, the number of children attending tuition-charging schools, and other financial circumstances.

The amount a family may qualify to receive will also depend on Unquowa’s available resources and the applicant pool in a given year.

How does Unquowa determine a family’s financial need?

Unquowa partners with Clarity to provide a secure and consistent assessment of each family’s financial circumstances. Clarity considers factors such as:

• Taxable and non-taxable income
• Family size
• Savings, investments, real estate, and home equity
• Debt and other financial obligations
• Childcare expenses
• The number of children attending Unquowa
• Other circumstances relevant to the family’s ability to contribute toward tuition

Clarity’s analysis is an important part of the review, but this database does not make the final award decision. Unquowa reviews each application individually and determines awards based on demonstrated need, available resources, and the school’s financial assistance policies.

When should our family apply?

The priority deadline for submitting the Clarity Application and all required supporting documents is January 31.

Families should complete the admission and financial assistance processes at the same time. When possible, admission decisions and financial assistance awards are communicated together so families have the information needed to make an enrollment decision.

What happens if we apply after the priority deadline?

Families applying after the priority deadline may still request financial assistance. Late applications are reviewed based on the availability of financial assistance and space within the student’s grade.

Because available resources may become more limited as awards are accepted, families seeking assistance are strongly encouraged to apply by January 31.

What if the initial award does not make enrollment possible, can I appeal?

A family may submit an appeal if its financial circumstances were not fully reflected in the original application, have changed significantly, or if the award does not make enrollment possible.

Families may be asked to provide additional information or documentation. Appeals are reviewed following the initial enrollment period and are considered based on the family’s circumstances, Unquowa’s available financial assistance funds, and enrollment capacity. An appeal does not guarantee an increase in assistance.

What if our family is separated or divorced?

Unquowa recognizes that families have many different structures and considers each situation individually.

In cases of separation or divorce, financial information is generally required from both parents or guardians, regardless of custody arrangements or responsibility for tuition. If obtaining information from a second parent or guardian is not possible, the family should contact the Business Office to discuss its circumstances and any documentation that may be required.

Will our financial assistance award remain the same each year?

Families must reapply for financial assistance each year. If a family’s financial circumstances remain relatively consistent, the school will make every effort to provide continuity in its award.

Award amounts may change based on tuition, family income, assets, expenses, changes in household circumstances, the number of children attending tuition-charging schools, and Unquowa’s available financial assistance resources.

Will our family need to repay financial assistance?

No. Unquowa’s financial assistance awards are grants and do not need to be repaid. Unquowa does not issue financial assistance as a loan.

Is our financial information confidential?

Yes. Financial information submitted through Clarity is treated confidentially and is used only for evaluating eligibility for financial assistance. Access is limited to those responsible for reviewing and administering the financial assistance program.

Do returning families need to reapply?

Yes. Returning families seeking financial assistance must complete a new Clarity Application and submit the required documentation each year by the published deadline.

Completing the process on time allows Unquowa to evaluate a family’s current circumstances and communicate an award as part of the re-enrollment process.
