Application Checklist:

Because building strong relationships is at the core of our philosophy, our application process is designed around the best way to get to know our applicants and their families. The details of the process are specific to each division, but the first steps are all the same – join us for a parent visit and submit a completed application form. PreK Application Steps:

• Parent Visit: Join us for one of our fall visit days or schedule time for a private tour by calling the office at 203-367-3151. This is your chance to see Unquowa in action and learn more about the program.
• Application Form: Complete and submit our application form online.
• Teacher Recommendation: Once the application has been submitted, you will receive email instructions for requesting a recommendation form from your child’s current school/teacher.
• PreK Playdate: Now it’s your child’s turn to visit Unquowa! All PreK applicants must attend a group visit and the first available date is Friday, December 5th from 9:00AM – 10:15AM. This visit is designed to be enjoyable, engaging and mirror a shortened version of a day in the life of our students. We gather a small group of prospective students together with Unquowa teachers for cooperative play, story time and a group activity. • Application Complete! We will send admissions decisions on Friday, December 12th.

Kindergarten Application Steps:

• Parent Visit: Join us for one of our fall visit days or schedule time for a private tour by calling the office at 203-367-3151. This is your chance to see Unquowa in action and learn more about the program.
• Application Form: Complete and submit our application form online.
• Teacher Recommendation: Once the application has been submitted, you will receive email instructions for requesting a recommendation form from your child’s current school/teacher.
• Student Visit: Now it’s your child’s turn to visit Unquowa! All Kindergarten applicants must attend a student visit. Applicants will spend some time with the Unquowa PreK class. This visit is designed to be enjoyable, engaging and mirror a shortened version of a day in the life of our students. Student visits are available at 10:00 – 11:45 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
• Financial Aid Application: If you are interested in applying for financial aid, please be sure to complete your application via Clarity.com by January 31st.
• Application Complete! The deadline to complete the application process is February 15th. We will send admissions decisions beginning on Thursday, February 19th.

Lower School (Grades 1 – 4) Application Steps:

• Application Form: Complete and submit our application form online.
• Teacher Recommendation and Transcript Request: Once the application has been submitted, you will receive email instructions for requesting a recommendation form and copies of transcripts from your child’s current school/teacher.
• Student Visit: Now it’s your child’s turn to visit Unquowa! All Lower School applicants must attend a student visit. Applicants will spend the day with the grade they are in currently. This visit is designed to be enjoyable, engaging and give applicants a sense of a day in the life of our students. This is also our opportunity to get to know your child within the context of the cohort they’d potentially be joining.
• Lower School Sneak a Peek: Parents and applicants should plan to join us on Saturday, January 24th from 9:30 – 11:00am for our Lower School Sneak a Peek event.
• Financial Aid Application: If you are interested in applying for financial aid, please be sure to complete your application via Clarity.com by January 31st.

Upper School (Grades 5 – 8) Application Steps:

• Student Visit: Now it’s your child’s turn to visit Unquowa! All Upper School applicants must attend a student visit. Applicants will spend the day with the grade they are in currently. This visit is designed to be enjoyable, engaging and give applicants a sense of a day in the life of our students. This is also our opportunity to get to know your child within the context of the cohort they’d potentially be joining.
• Upper School Preview: Parents and applicants should plan to join us on Thursday, January 29th from 6:00 – 8:30pm for our Upper School Preview event.
• Financial Aid Application: If you are interested in applying for financial aid, please be sure to complete your application via Clarity.com by January 31st.
• Application Complete! The deadline to complete the application process is February 15th. We will send admissions decisions beginning on Thursday, February 19th.

Please note that for your child’s application to be considered in our first round of admissions decisions, all information is due by December 8th for PreK applicants and by February 15 for all other grades. Applications received after February 15 will be considered based on availability with decisions sent on a rolling basis.

Financial Assistance Application Process Overview:

The Unquowa School offers tuition assistance based on financial need to current and incoming families in Kindergarten through Grade 8. We use a fair and mission-appropriate formula to make awards to families with true need. 

• Please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit. 
• Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity Application, as Unquowa requires you to upload additional tax documentation including all current year’s W-2s and 1099s. All information related to the parents’ financial circumstances will be treated confidentially. These forms will only be used to arrive at a fair determination of financial need.
• The deadline for completing the financial aid application including relevant supplemental documents is February 1st for new families.
