Skills for Life, Built on the Field
Our primary goal is to make participation in athletic endeavors enjoyable. We help our students have fun, learn various sports and develop lifelong skills. Competition is a natural part of sport, and through it, we develop qualities like commitment, teamwork, dedication, loyalty, perseverance, goal attainment, and self-discipline. These skills pay off in the classroom and on the field, and stay with Unquowa graduates for life.
As students advance into the Upper School, everyone who tries out is placed on a team. We focus on participation and camaraderie among team members as students learn the fundamentals of sport, the rigors of athletic conditioning, and building resilience through training and competition.
PE Teachers For the Day!
Posted by Sarah Pollex
At Unquowa, PE students are the teachers! This week August, grade 3 and Salma, grade 6 were naturals as they took charge of class by organizing warm ups, choosing games, officiating, and best of all, participating!
When asked what they liked most about their experience, August said, “playing ultimate pinball with my class!” and Salma said, “making balanced teams!” A great day for all! Go Unquowa! Go Gators!
Cross Country Update – Fall Season!
Posted by Joey Casey
Unquowa’s Cross Country Team had a wonderful fall season and secured many Fairchester Athletics League awards! The season was filled with hard work, challenges, lots of running, and fun! Runners challenged themselves during practice and gained speed and endurance throughout the season, which was reflected at meets. Many runners put one foot in front of the other and placed in the top five at both regular meets and the championship. As each of them gained endurance, practices became a time to focus on more advanced skills such as pacing. This season we were presented with new challenges at meets, with many of the familiar venues having course changes. Through any confusion, Unquowa runners were able to push through and finish strong.
We ended the season just as we began, running a mile for time. Goals set at the beginning of the season were surpassed due to their dedication to running, and some completed their goals with ease! Way to go Gator runners!

6-8 Soccer Caps Off a Solid Season!
Posted by Lloyd Mitchell
6-8 soccer had another solid fall campaign. We matched up against many strong soccer programs and came away this season with a final record of 7-2. The team has grown into a cohesive soccer team that learned to play controlled soccer that led to quality victories. This squad was led by a group of 8th graders who set the bar high for success. While we know they all will be missed next year, the squad is in good hands with the up and coming talent in 6th and 7th to lead the team next year. Great season!

Dribble Mastery
Posted by Sarah Pollex
With an unprecedented roster of eighteen players, our 3-4 basketball team is conquering the court. The team has been hard at work honing the skill of dribbling with both dominant and non-dominant hands. Picture their speedy relays showcasing their newfound dribbling prowess, creating a symphony of basketballs bouncing in unison across the court.
Their absolute favorite game of “Dribble Knockout” keeps everyone on their toes as they display their dribbling finesse. Laughter echoes in the gym as the team engages in friendly competition, each player striving to out-dribble their opponents.
And then there’s that unforgettable moment frozen in time. Kori, with sheet determination, made the basket that spared the team from post-practice “liners”. The cheers and high-fives that followed were a testament to the camaraderie and spirit that defines this exceptional group. “Gators on three! One, two, three, Gators!”
