8th Grade Math Mentors
Posted by Rebecca FestaThe eighth grade students in Mrs. Festa’s math class recently visited the third grade to act as math mentors. The eighth graders were challenged with creating a math lesson for the third grade class using number tiles and individually created worksheets. Each student designed a worksheet with age appropriate problems and visual appeal. They then guided pairs of third grade students through each set of exercises.
The third graders were excited to work with the older students and eagerly accepted the challenge. The eighth graders later reflected on the activity and a consistent comment by all was how impressed they were by the aptitude of the younger students. Great work, third grade!
