Maritime Aquarium
Posted by Carlene GordonThird and fourth graders recently traveled to the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk for a fun and educational day. We began in the Maritime Aquarium lab discovering the unique anatomy of squid. Through observation and dissection, students explored how squid sense and respond to their environment. Students also compared squid to other mollusks such as clams, mussels and snails and even wrote their names with squid ink! Following the laboratory experience, third and fourth graders enjoyed exploring the rest of the newly renovated aquarium, including the feeding demonstration of harbor seals, African aquatic life and the Touch-a-Shark exhibit. Students learned about adaptations, habitat preservation and conservation both close to home and around the world. Thank you to all our chaperones for making this such a successful trip.
