Mindful Moonlight Sonata
Posted by Megan KirkMindfulness is always happening in music. During class today the snow was falling beautifully and students were quite excited to see this happening. They were having a hard time focusing on the day’s music lesson! I then decided to start playing Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. As I put the music on, I put the crayons in the center of the room, and handed out colored paper. With the simple words “draw what the music makes you feel,” the room went quiet and the students became focused and centered. They drew some amazing work. After this exercise the class proceeded as planned and the students were excellent listeners!
