Celebrating 一百
Posted by Teresa HsiaoSince the first day of school, kindergarten students have been counting towards the 100th day of school in Mandarin Chinese. Along the way, they learned to recognize the pattern of the Chinese numeral system and figured out its systematic logic. As a result, they can both read and write numbers up to 100! By the time the class reached the 90’s, they became more excited each day as we inched towards 一百 (one hundred). Snow days became disappointing set backs. Finally, on Monday February 23rd the fifteen kindergarteners shouted with glee the number 一百!! To celebrate this amazing milestone, the class jumped into creating the 一百 chart in Chinese! They had a choice to either write the whole chart out with a partner or complete a 100 chart puzzle.
