Scale Modeling Design
Posted by Lloyd MitchellSixth grade technology students have begun to experiment with SketchUp to create scale models. We have been working on utilizing the program to learn different components that will allow us to create a scale model. First, students measure out a piece of furniture and then use that information to create a replica of the actual piece, in this case a library chair, in scale. This project involves many basic skills such as measurement but requires careful calculations. As the project progresses, students will test their models for structural integrity. The culmination will be sending a few of the models to the 3D printer to see how they compare to the original.
