4th Graders Learn About Heirlooms
Posted by Mary CurranFourth graders created heirloom posters of fruits and vegetables including their histories and detailed botanical drawings. Heirlooms are considered by many to have exceptional taste, color and smell, and seeds are often saved from generation to generation. Students started many varieties of lettuce from seeds in the Grow Lab in March and transplanted them in the Unquowa garden in early April. They have been harvesting heirlooms such as Grandpa Admire’s, Winter Density and Red Rosie for Chef David and Chef Henri. A big thank you to our fourth grade gardeners!
