Colonial Herb Gardens
Posted by Maureen DialloIn preparation for our upcoming Field Experience to the Ogden House, the first graders met with Mrs. Curran to learn about Colonial herb gardens. The first graders learned about uses for different herbs during Colonial Times, such as thyme for a cough, lavender to repel insects and mint for a stomachache. They also learned that some of the same herbs are growing in our very own Unquowa garden. After exploring various herbs and their uses, the first graders made beautiful lavender sachets just like the Ogden family may have used to freshen up their home!
