Symmetry in Nature
Posted by Faith BarbutoKindergarten has been learning about symmetry and after seeing some examples of symmetry in nature such as the wings of a butterfly, a snowflake through a microscope or a spider’s web, we headed outside to try to find the most symmetrical leaves we could. Once we found our perfect specimens, we brought them inside for closer examination. We found the central vein that acts as a line of symmetry in the leaf and then carefully cut down that line. Next the daunting task of recreating the missing half of our leaves, trying hard to exactly match the colors and shapes.
