Handwriting Characters is Fun!
Posted by Yajuan ZhangFor first grade students, the practice of handwriting characters is always something fun to do. There are different ways to make the experience interesting and full of fun. For example, using colors and stickers to practice the handwriting or engaging students to practice the handwriting through making crafts. Students had a joyful moment when practicing the number characters between 11 to 50. However, the most exciting time for them is to write down their own characters for numbers from one to ten and of course to make their own dancing snake. “Zhang Laoshi (Teacher Zhang), can I please bring my character snake home today? I really want to show it to my Mom.” “Well, I am going to display the work of the whole class first. And then, you will bring your character snake home.” I did feel regret that day that I didn’t give the student the opportunity to share his pride of himself with his family. But I was quite relieved very soon when I noticed the facial expression of the student when he saw the character snake presentation of the whole class on the string in the classroom. And I know now, when the student’s family sees the picture of the student’s work, his pride of himself will only be reinforced as it does to other students of the class and their families.
