A Typical Seventh Grade Drama Class…
Posted by Alyson CahillSeventh grade Drama students begin each class with a full physical and vocal warm-up specifically geared to get our bodies and voices ready for class! We then go over the agenda for the day’s class and dive right into our main lesson topic. So far we have covered basic acting principles such as stage crosses and directions and we are currently working on vocal techniques for theatre, specifically using our voices to suggest different characters. The students recently performed “open-ended scenes” using their voices to suggest various characters. Towards the end of class, we usually do a group activity or game that builds ensemble or enhances the skills covered that day. Every class ends with a written or spoken reflection, sometimes done as a full group discussion or pair-share. The students are making strong acting choices already and I’m excited to see them grow as actors throughout the course of the year!
