Sixth grade took their initial field experience to Tory’s Cave this week. Students were filled with wonderment and enthusiasm to explore the inside of the cave- at least until the lights went out. Students were split into two groups, one started inside the cave and one outside. The inside group focused on observing the ribbons of water carved marble while the outside group fashioned native arrowheads, spear points and carving tools out of some nice examples of silica based quartz. The groups then switched so all students explored the cave inside and out.
