Technology: friend or foe? I think we can all agree that technology has it’s advantages and disadvantages. In the world of language learning, this certainly holds true. Online dictionaries prove to be super convenient and helpful to students, while online translators prove to be a dangerous temptation for students to avoid using their brains first. Last week, Señora Corvese and I were invited to try a new feature through the popular website Quizlet called Quizlet LIVE. Excited and hesitant to discover if this would be a technology friend or foe in the land of language-learning, we were delighted to discover that Quizlet LIVE offers an opportunity for students of all levels to collaborate beyond their screens in the target language. In fact, this new program requires both technology and collaboration to be successful. Better still, students have a blast competing!
