How Close is too Close?
Posted by Lloyd Mitchell6th grade has begun the robotics unit and are hard at work exploring the in’s and out’s of the robots. We have started looking at how applying simple math concepts can help make our robots travel more accurately. At the end of each unit, students are faced with a real life problem and have to develop several behaviors to get the robot to accomplish the task. Their very first challenge was to program the robot to stop as close as possible to a lego™ person who was placed at the end of a table without knocking it off. While several groups came close, the closest was 3/4 of a cm. In the coming weeks, we will be exploring more uses of the robots and applying more math and science into the process.
