Learning to Work Together!
Posted by Lloyd MitchellSixth grade is the start of advisory in the Upper School. This is a time when students meet once a week with their advisor and fellow advisees to discuss what is going on in their grade, discuss social topics, and to get to know classmates better. This time is often about making a stronger connection to our classmates and learning how to support each other. This week, we started out with two ice breaker activities to allow each of us to connect with all of our classmates. Our first activity was a memory game where each person said their name and an adjective that describes themselves, but has to begin with the same letter as their first name. As each person went, the next person had to repeat all the previous ones. This proved to be challenging, but rewarding. As classmates were leaving, one student said, “I will always remember you as your adjective!” Our second activity involved working as a team to untangle the human knot! These team building activities support students and help them grow as members of our community. We look forward to many more exciting advisories this year!
