The Seventh Grade’s Lesson or The Seventh Grades Lesson?
Posted by Michelle LambThe apostrophe, sometimes affectionately, but incorrectly, called the floating comma, is a punctuation that can completely change the meaning of a sentence. Through group collaboration and self-discovery, the seventh grade used a variety of tools to develop lessons and assessments for their classmates in the following areas of apostrophe usage: contractions, singular possessive, and plural possessive. They laughed, they cried (tears of laughter, of course), and they learned that teaching is more difficult than they thought! The culminating activity for their unit will be a creative demonstration of the importance of this punctuation, so stay tuned!
