Worry Dolls!
Posted by Betsey YoungWhen seven year old Teresa Carreno came to America from South America she had a lot to worry about. Will I be able to learn a new language? Will my country survive its war? Will I be able to play the piano I love? Second grade loved the story “Dancing Hands” that told the story of the girl from Venezuela who performed for Abraham Lincoln at the white House. Continuing our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month we adapted the craft of “worry dolls” from Guatemala. We may not be performing for the President, but may have other reasons to hide these under our pillows.
