Let it Shine!
Posted by Maureen DialloThe first grade scientists have been hard at work exploring light! The first graders made observations to explain how objects can be seen if the objects give off their own light, or if a light source shines on them. They tested this theory by having a glow stick party in different parts of the building and by observing objects in boxes with varying amounts of light. The first grade scientists also gathered evidence to support the ideas about how light interacts with different materials and that those materials can change the direction or a beam of light. They tested this theory through making shadows on the stage with flashlights and by shining light at materials that were opaque, translucent, and transparent.
