Our Journeys as Water Droplets!
Posted by Colleen NoyesThe 5th graders have been diving deep into the study of the water cycle. This week, they played an engaging game where each student embodied a water droplet, moving throughout the Earth. It was a fantastic way for them to learn about the different stages of the water cycle while having fun! This week, after our game, students took the time to reflect on their individual journeys as water droplets. They wrote their experiences on the board and analyzed various aspects of their travels. Some of the fascinating questions that arose include:
- Why did a droplet stay in the ocean for all 10 rounds?
- How does water travel through an animal or a plant?
- Does it matter where water travels on our planet?
These thought-provoking inquiries are a testament to our students’ curiosity and critical thinking skills! During their journey, the water droplets traveled to various places, including:
- Lakes
- Rivers
- Oceans
- Clouds
- Animals
- Plants
- Glaciers
- Groundwater
- Soil
These experiences have enriched their understanding of the water cycle and earth science!
