Building Community Through Language!
Posted by Thomas IezinThis year, our 8th Grade Spanish class is back to sharing their learning with some of the youngest members of our community! Every other Wednesday, the 8th graders visit Early Childhood classrooms to read aloud to the Kindergarten—in Spanish.
This tradition is more than just practice with language. It allows our older students to:
- Reinforce their Spanish learning through real-world application.
- Gain confidence speaking and reading aloud in front of an audience.
- Serve as role models for the Kindergarten students.
For the Kindergarteners, it’s a chance to hear Spanish in an authentic, engaging way, while also building a bond with older students.
Moments like these builds community, fosters mentorship, and brings joy to both the reader and the listener.
