Abstract Compositions
Posted by lauradowlingSixth graders are in the process of completing these stunning abstract paintings. Students began by working directly with black tempera, intersecting curved and straight lines to break up the space into large and small shapes. We looked at the color wheel and discussed several ways artists use particular color groups in their work, and we discussed the use of analogous colors, or colors next to each other on the color wheel. They then learned how to blend color and to create balanced compositions. Amazing work sixth graders!
