Mindful Morning Tasting Craisins!
Posted by Maureen DialloAs part of The Inner Resilience Program, the first graders gathered together to experience mindful eating. Each of the first graders investigated a Craisin and talked about what they noticed before they even placed it in their mouths. They talked about color, shape, texture, and how the light passed through. They even listened to their Craisin! After the first graders observed how the Craisin looked, they carefully placed it their mouths without chewing. They felt the texture and noticed the sweetness of the Craisin for five whole seconds before we then decided to chew mindfully for another five seconds. The first graders talked about how hard or easy it was to slow down and eat something so small in such a thoughtful way. They decided that when they eat in our Dining Room at school they will try and explore their food, enjoy it, and have a mindful dining experience!
