Shakespeare with Second Grade!
Posted by Alyson CahillSecond graders had a lot of fun the past few weeks learning about William Shakespeare in drama class. Did you know that if Shakespeare were alive today, he would be 450 years old? We also discussed Shakespeare’s use of language and his love of words. One of the fun facts students learned was that Shakespeare made up many words and phrases we use today, such as puppy dog, shooting star, majestic and farm house. We decided to create our own words! We filled up two large pieces of paper with our word list (and their translations), and students created entire sentences using these words and phrases. So don’t worry – if you hear a second grader speaking jibberish, he or she is just demonstrating their knowledge of Shakespeare!
