Characteristics of the Four Dominant Learning Styles
Posted by Joan SabatiniThe way in which we view the world is called our PERCEPTION. We perceive in two ways CONCRETE or ABSTRACT. The way we use the information we perceive is called ORDERING. We order in two ways SEQUENTIAL or RANDOM. Seventh grade learning skills students have recently assessed how they like to learn and now are doing assessments on their teachers. The four Dominant Learning Characteristics are Concrete Sequential, Concrete Random, Abstract Sequential or Abstract Random. Jahmari is doing an assessment for Ms. T. Which of the four is she……..Concrete Random. If you prefer doing things the same way, that’s Concrete Sequential among other things. If you almost always need enough time to do a thorough job – Abstract Sequential. If you prefer to check with others before making final decisions – Abstract Random. If you work best with those who can keep up – Concrete Random. Learning skills students are learning a lot about how they like to learn which is empowering them as learners.
