First Grade Explores “Over Hill, Over Dale…”
Posted by Alyson CahillFirst graders had a wonderful time these past few weeks exploring William Shakespeare’s language concepts in drama class. Using the fairy’s speech from Act II, Scene 1 of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, students identified rhyming words and created their own rhyming couplets! We then created frozen images – or tableaux – of the same speech. Some students were fairies/elves wandering through “bush and brier,” some were the fairy queen Titania, and some were the ruby-speckled cowslip flowers that guard the queen!
