The Shape of My Heart Will Not Go On
Posted by Craig KnebelThe seventh graders explored the circulation or cardiac system of the human body by dissecting sheep hearts this year. Students learned that sheep hearts are almost identical to human hearts with the same number of chambers and similar Aorta and Vena Cava. The left side of the heart is noticeably thicker due to its job of pumping blood to the body. Students inserted probes, felt the side of the heart, and then cut open the left and right sides to identify the ventricles, atria and valves. Apologies for title theft to Sting, The Backstreet Boys and Celine Dion.
