An Eighth Grade Challenge….
Posted by Janice ShannonMrs. Haseltine and I were talking the other day about whether or not any of her eighth students would like to try their hand at teaching my PreK-3 students numbers 1 – 5. Challenge accepted!! Each eighth grader took one three-year-old and worked for nearly 30 minutes on different concepts of numbers. Some used flash cards, some used small wood shapes, books, counting bears and rubber band numbers. The little ones felt very special and remained focused on the task at hand. It looked like the eighth graders loved being the teacher for once. This class worked so well that I think a monthly lesson with this group would work wonders for our newest Unquowans. Who said math is hard to learn…?
