It’s Alive!!
Posted by Faith BarbutoThe kindergarten class travelled to the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport for a learning lab about living and nonliving things. Our instructor read a book that talked about the characteristics of living things and how to tell if something is alive. We also learned about another category, things that were once alive. Next, she put some objects on the tables and together we explored the objects to decide which group they belong to. There were even some living things that cleverly “played dead” to avoid being another animal’s lunch. We were all excited to watch the crickets get eaten by a larger living thing, a toad ! Then we talked about really small livings, like bacteria and germs. We learned more about how they can be transferred from person to person. We each put our hands under a blacklight to see the germs we carry on our bodies without even knowing it. Last stop was a trip to the hand sanitizer to kill some germs before we headed back to school!
