A Bug Hunt
Posted by Ann PalmMiss. Colleen from the Fairfield Audubon Center visited the PreK-4 classroom and taught us about insects. The children learned that all insects have three body parts, two eyes, two antenas and six legs. They were surprised to learn a spider was not an insect but a class of insect called an arachnid and only has two body parts. Miss Colleen hid plastic creatures in the woods behind the school. After finding a creature the children distinguished if it was a spider, insect or other creature. It was a great learning experience and fun to be outside!
