After-School Improv
Posted by Alyson CahillAfter-School Improv for grades 5-8 is in full swing! Students are learning the “basics” of improv work and what it is like to act without a script. The actors have been practicing many activities to build their improvisational skills, and playing some great games that stretch their creative muscles. Most importantly, we always emphasize how an improv ensemble is a team effort – there is no “star” performer – and we always support one another as actors! In these pictures, the actors are doing a “Walk As If” activity, during which they walk around the space as specific characters in a situation (for example, the floor is made of glue and it’s 100 degrees outside) and freeze in place, then come up with a line on the spot that describes their character’s inner thoughts.
