American Math Competition
Posted by Lisa HaseltineBack in November, many of our sixth, seventh and eighth graders participated in the American Mathematics Contest along with students from more than 2200 other schools. The AMC is a 25-question, multiple-choice test. The related high school contest is part of the series of competitions that leads to the IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad).
At a recent assembly, Mrs. Haseltine announced the results. Eighth graders Quinn and Siddharth finished in third place. Second place was awarded to sixth grader Carrie. Her score of 16 out of 25 earned her a Certificate of Achievement. Tied for first place, our school winners are eighth graders Ben and Akash. They received school winner pins and their names are now on the school AMC plaque.
In addition, because the sum of the top three scores is greater than 50, we received a School Certificate of Merit.
Congratulations to everyone who participated for their excellent effort and achievement!
