Barriletes
Posted by Katie BrennaAs we prepare for our Guatemalan visiting students to depart next week, we are making the most of our last few classes with them. Ana Cris visited fifth grade to help them create a special piece of art called a “barrilete” (kite). These kites are typically prepared on a much larger scale for a Mayan Festival that coincides with All Saints’ Day. Students got a small taste of kite-making as they used string, sticks, tape and tissue paper to construct their own personal barrilete. Special thanks to Jose for his additional help!
