¿Cómo estás? ¿Qué te pasa?
Posted by Katie BrennaJust a normal everyday question brought to life, that’s all. Every day I ask students how they are doing and that won’t ever change – why should it? That being said, I think it’s important for students to expand their options, so that they don’t retreat to the comfortable answers: I’m doing well. I’m doing okay. I’m not doing well. After all, these three options, although an understandable starting point for language learners, don’t offer much space for student expression. Student actors mimed many different emotions and sensations as their classmates guessed how they were feeling and I captured the raw emotion in photographs. Student were then given a complete set of photos from the activity and charged with creating a collaborative poster that we can use for daily reflection. The only requirements: all photos must be used on the poster and captioned accurately in Spanish. The finished product helps us to tune into our emotions everyday and to be honest, the photos make us laugh too!
