Cuneiform
Posted by Bobby BrennanRecently, the third grade class began their exploration of Ancient Civilizations. We started with Mesopotamia and Sumer learning about their history, daily life and inventions; including an early form of writing known as cuneiform. The third graders quickly discovered that writing a long time ago was much more difficult than it is today. They had to use clay tablets and a stylus, instead of pencil and paper. Each student was given the Sumerian alphabet and asked to write their names in a small, flat piece of clay. This proved to be a difficult task, but the end results were something to behold!
