Evergreen Study
Posted by Janice ShannonWe had a special guest from the Fairfield Audubon who came to our classroom to teach us about evergreen trees. We learned that these trees do not shed their leaves like other trees and were introduced to a couple types – the friendly fir and the prickly pine. Our guest brought evergreen branches for us to study and we made close observations by touching and smelling each one. As part of our study we created an art project to make evergreen trees the size of each of us. First we laid down on a big piece of white paper and had our bodies traced, then we made the trunk using brown pieces of paper and dipped our pine branches in green paint to paint the treetops. The trees turned out well and it was a pretty messy project which always adds lots of fun.
