Exploring our Five Senses!
Posted by Ann PalmIn our Kindergarten science class while exploring our five senses, Mrs. Palm decided to take the lesson on touch outdoors to create “Mud Faces.” Equipped with water, shovels and trowels, we ventured out into the Unquowa Woods to find suitable trees and to make the mud…Yay!
Unearthing the dirt proved to be a bit challenging but we worked together to find “soft” dirt to dig and collect. Once we had enough dirt, we added water and mixed it together to become mud. Now, we were ready to make our “Mud Faces” on the trees!
The first step involved taking a handful of mud and smooshing it onto the bark of a tree. Next, we gathered natural objects to give our mud a face, using leaves, stones, sticks, and acorns. By the end, we were all messy but excited about our masterpieces! Who knew that learning about the sense of touch could be such a fun adventure?
