Fifth Grader Takes the Helm
Posted by Michelle LambFifth grader, Michael, proposed a project to design and construct a 16th century caravel (Spanish ship primarily used for exploration). Recently, he spent a day in the makerspace putting his ideas to fruition. With a few classmates to help, he tried different materials and techniques. He and his assistants even led the fifth grade social studies classes through making sails for the ship. The best part of the makerspace is that kids can see their ideas become a reality and take charge of their own endeavors.
