Finding our Voices of Change
Posted by Krissy Ponden7th and 8th graders have been busy researching their topics for their capstone Voices of Change projects, which tasks students with identifying an inequity and advocating for change through art. We were grateful to have a virtual visit with Professor Jonix Owino of Sacred Heart University, who shared her experience working with refugees and how she became involved in activism as a result. Mr. Kayumba also spoke of his own experience as a refugee and how he decided to give back to those who helped him when he was a child. It was a wonderful conversation that helped the students think about how we find our passions and ways in which we can use that energy to help others.
