For The Birds
Posted by Faith BarbutoKindergarten has gone bird crazy! As we have deeply immersed ourselves in learning about this animal group, students have been investigating common bird traits. We have studied a bird’s life cycle and created our own models. We have tried our hand at birdwatching and learning to identify birds common in our area. During Explorations, we explored using different tools as bird beaks and tried to forage for food the way a bird would. We discovered which bills are most effective in different situations. Down in the makerspace we began creating our own birds out of simple wooden shapes. We have been learning how to use screws and screwdrivers to attach the pieces together. Next, we put on dowels to enable the birds to stand. Last but not least we added that finishing touch of what makes birds birds, feathers! Ask your kindergartner to tell you more about birds!
