Geography Bee
Posted by Debbie LeidleinEach winter, students in grades five through eight participate in our school wide Geography Bee. Students first compete to see who will represent their grade level and in January, those who won the grade level Bees compete to see who will be recognized as the Geography Bee Champion for our school. This year’s class winners were eighth graders Spencer and Colin, seventh graders Jackson and Sara, sixth graders Siddarth and Akash, and fifth graders Lucy and Jess. Due to illness, seventh grade alternate Connor competed in Jackson’s place. Seventh grader Connor came in third place, fifth grader Jess secured second and Sixth grader Akash was our overall winner. Akash then completed a qualification test to see if he qualified to compete at the state level for the National Geographic Geography Bee. Notice was received in March that Akash qualified to participate in the state Geography Bee on April 5th at Central Connecticut State University. We will all be cheering for Akash in the hopes that he may able to advance to the national competition in Washington, D.C. in May.
