Over the course of 3 weeks, Grade 4 utilized the phases of the Engineering and Design process to build a structure whose parts symbolized passive solar power. In their final presentation, each team reflected on the process and shared their knowledge. They pointed to elements of their structure that represented passive solar design: thermal mass, insulation, angel and direction of the Sun, window placement, overhangs and shading, ventilation and circulation, surface colors, and house location. They should all be proud of their incredible team work and engineering skills.
