Jack and the Giant
Posted by Megan KirkNortheast Children’s Theatre Company presented “Jack and the Giant” to the Unquowa School this week. Using very little in the way of sets and props, this theatre group told the story of Jack, a young man who just lost his cow; the Moon, who helped Jack find his voice along the way; Amelia a princess looking for her own adventure; and Luna, a pirate searching for her beloved lost harp; and their search for the Giant who lived at the top of the magic beanstalk. One part of the show that the students loved was the horse they brought to life using just a simple sheet.
After the show the troop lead the sixth-eighth grade students through a Broadway Musical Workshop. We started with a familiar acting warm up of “zip, zap, zop.” After this the actors taught the students a song and dance from the show and discussed how as an actor you can bring a story to life for your audience.
