Let’s Dance!
Posted by Marybeth LaneAs part of our new effort to incorporate dance and aerobic fitness into our curriculum, we have begun the school year with some cardio funk warm-ups and practice dance routines.
All grades will be introduced to various forms of dance workouts which include (but are not limited to) Contemporary, Hip Hop, Zumba and Salsa.
At the end of last week, seventh graders started with a cardio funk warm-up followed by a cardio dance workout. The energy in the gymnasium was infectious as students followed the video instructors through a myriad of dance warm up exercises and dance moves. Seventh grade students showed tremendous enthusiasm while following along.
Going forward, dance and aerobic fitness will be an integral part of our Physical Education curriculum. Through dance and aerobic exercise, students will build on their strength and endurance while learning balance, coordination and rhythm.
Not only will it be fun, but we will get their hearts pumping to some new and familiar dance beats!
