Mapping the Garden
Posted by Mary CurranDuring the month of May, third and fourth graders were challenged to use a map to record plants growing in The Unquowa Garden. They identified over 40 varieties of vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs. Students enjoyed smelling herbs in our “tea” garden by gently rubbing their fingers on the leaves of nutmeg scented geraniums, pineapple mint and lemon thyme.
We invite you too, to come tour our garden. Everything is labeled for easy identification. There are raised beds of heirloom lettuces, D’Avignon radishes, Sugar Ann peas, purple haze carrots, and Egyptian walking onions. In addition, many varieties of flowers are growing including cosmos, nasturtium, zinnias and purple hyacinth beans.
