Marigold Investigations
Posted by Mary CurranIn September kindergartners picked marigolds in the Unquowa garden. They learned that flowers are not only beautiful but play an important role in attracting pollinators. Students carefully examined marigold flowers and their seed pods and recorded observations. The pods were opened and seeds collected for a special project in the spring. In addition, an envelope of seeds was given as a gift to Vasudha Wanchoo, who is the director of a residential home and school for children in the Himilayas. Kindergartners from The Jhantse Gatsal Children’s Garden will be planting marigold seeds from the Unquowa garden in their gardens in the spring.
