Recently in the science lab, the 7th grade jumped into the microscopic world! Since the start of the school year, the students have been learning all about cells, cell structures and their functions. This lab involving microscopes allowed the students to see real life examples of cells which helped them to determine whether an object was living (contains cells) or non-living (does not contain cells). Some of the materials the students observed included the following; q-tip, tissue paper, cork slice, onion slices, lettuce pieces, hair sample, skin sample, and sand. Upon completion of this lab, students became more confident in their knowledge of cells, how to use a microscope, and they learned why microscopes are so helpful!
