Mindful Monday
Posted by Carlene GordonAfter the exciting Halloween weekend, we decided to start November with a Mindful Monday. Third and fourth graders began first thing Monday morning with a silent walk around our playground and field. Upon completion of the walk students found an outdoor seat and closed their eyes as I encouraged the children to listen to the sounds and nature and focus on their thoughts about October and wishes for November. Students were then given a few minutes to journal and illustrate their thoughts and feelings. Our third and fourth graders then volunteered (if they wished) to share their writings with the group. Students described feeling calm, peaceful and grateful. One student described the fall scenery as more vibrant than any crayola crayon could create. Well done, third and fourth graders!
